One day I'm going to build my own house. I have bought the piece of land for it - it is 1½ acres big and on an island in the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand. It has it's own waterfall, stream and beach. It has no electricity, no sewerage and no road access - you can only get to it by boat. It faces due North and thus gets the Sun all day and the Moon all night. It is utterly idyllic.

I suspect that building on it is going to be harder than it sounds - and it sounds pretty hard. Especially given that I have all sorts of exotic ideas that I'm going to try to incorporate into the design.

In this section of the site I'm going to slowly dump out the results of all my research, my sketches, my designs and photos of the models I'm going to build.

Don't hold your breath, though. It could take me a while ...
