Formal Job Title: Lotus Notes Team Leader
.summary job description
I led a four person development team through the process of gathering business requirements, the compilation of the functional and system design specifications, development, unit testing, assembly testing, system testing, and UAT. The project involved the major re-engineering of an ageing Notes database suite (Allianz's Claims Management System) that had partial interfaces to the corporate mainframe and a faxing solution (RightFAX). The database suite was completely re-designed to significantly increase database performance, more fully integrate with the mainframe and fax components and cope with a 220% increase in user base and 350% increase in document volume. The project included moving from a Lotus Notes R4 to Lotus Notes R5 infrastructure. Sundry project deliverables included the compilation of development standards for use by the whole development team going forward.
Upon completion of the project I was retained on contract to lead the Lotus Notes/Domino portion of Allianz's 'Project Quick Wins' - a set of smaller projects that focused on specific business needs to advance and round out Allianz's market position. The Business was asked to prioritise niche system developments within strict budgetary constraints and my job was to take these requirements and turn them into high-level specifications that could be tackled by our Lotus Notes/Domino development team. I was also responsible for the development and delivery of several of the more complex systems.

Rating from last performance review: Not applicable (contract position).
During my five-and-a-half years with Allianz my contract was renewed more than a dozen times and I was responsible for the highly successful delivery of the first three major releases of the Claims Management System, as well as several of the 'Project Quick Wins' development projects, including: a Complaints Handling System for all business units; a Customer Relationship Management system for all business units; several add-on systems that expanded the scope of the Claims Management System (an Emergency Management system and an Invoice Management system).

Formal Job Title: Lead/Principle Application Developer
.summary job description
Until May, 2001 I held the position of 'Lead/Principle Application Developer' (with a grade of 'Development Manager') within PwC's UK Audit Technology group. This group responds to and supports the IT needs of PwC's UK Audit Practice (the largest line of service in the second largest territory in the largest professional services organisation in the world). I was responsible for the system design and development of the group's more complicated Lotus Notes development projects. These projects typically involved a higher degree of risk, more complex data structures and work flow, a larger user group, and/or higher costs. Our primary user base was comprised of 9,000 audit partners and staff, and we regularly developed products for the whole of this user group.
My most recent role was as a Lead Developer for PwC's Global Development Team based in Dallas, Texas. This project involved the integration of several globally-used Notes R4 applications into a single, all-encompassing Notes R5 application. The application is used by the 80,000+ PwC auditors worldwide. I was the lead developer on the User Interface/Portal development team and was a member of the executive system design team.
All assignments were developed in accordance with PwC software development methodologies and my role included involvement in and/or responsibility for all stages of the software development lifecycle (from requirements collection through development to hand-over to the operational teams). I have also gained excellent understanding of the processes involved in Lotus Notes migration projects (resulting from both Lotus Notes version changes and company mergers).
I was deputy to the head of the UK Audit Application Development team. I was responsible for coaching several junior members of staff. I was the UK Audit Application Development team's LotusScript "Knowledge Owner" - part of our Knowledge Management procedures.
.progression
I was initially recruited to the Audit Technology Group as an IT contractor. I fulfilled contract assignments for the group for a year and a half before choosing to become a permanent member of PwC staff. At this time, my performance as a contractor had enabled me to qualify for a position as a 'Senior Application Developer' with a grade of Manager-Level 2.
Upon leaving the group in order to emigrate to Australia, I held the position of 'Lead/Principle Application Developer' ('Development Manager') with a grade of Manager-Level 1. I was also the deputy to the head of the Application Development team.

Formal Job Title: Software Developer
.summary job description
During my two-and-a-half years at Digital's Application Development Centre (ADC) my responsibilities primarily comprised the development and maintenance of Management Information Systems for two large clients. The majority of my work was for the international manager of all New Zealand wool sales, Wools of New Zealand. I was also a member of the team responsible for developing three systems for the New Zealand Government's Ministry of Education. All of these development projects were large-scale, three-tier, Client/Server systems.
My duties included taking an existing Functional Specification and designing and implementing a solution that matched the functional and user requirements. My role developed into one where I was responsible for collecting user requirements and writing the Functional Specifications for new system components.
The ADC has an excellent reputation for quality, due mainly to the people and procedural systems in place, and I gained valuable experience in a highly organised development environment.
.progression
Part of my development as a Software Developer involved the move to writing the Functional Specifications for two additional components of the Wools of New Zealand MIS system from user requirements I collected myself. These systems had to integrate with the large Client/Server application already in place.
